FISH OF THE WEEK!

Magnificent Foxface (Siganus magnificus)

Pictures do not do this fish justice! Magnificents flash their dorsal fins often showing a stunning geometric pattern. This fish can work well for algae control in tanks as small as 40 gallons, but over time it may need to be moved to a larger tank of 125 gallons or above, as it can grow up to 9”. It is a peaceful fish, but can generally hold its own with mildly aggressive fish, and they will most often leave it alone because of its venomous dorsal spines. Foxface do not do well with other Rabbitfish and should be kept one per tank. They are considered reef compatible, but in some instances, may nip on LPS and soft corals. This can generally be avoided by keeping this herbivore well fed.
