The Harty Chalk Bass remains smaller than most Bass, reaching only 3”, and it is reef safe making it an excellent choice for smaller reef aquariums. In larger tanks, more than one can be kept, but they should be added at the same time to avoid territorial issues.

They will also be happier with plenty of live rock for hiding. If shrimp are to be kept in the same aquarium, add them first and pick larger specimens, as larger bass may attack smaller shrimp. This carnivore does well on a variety of meaty frozen foods along with flakes and pellets.
